The Osun State Government has intensified efforts to improve access to safe and potable water by seeking strategic partnerships with international donor agencies at the Singapore International Water Week (SIWW) 2026, holding from June 16 to 19 in Singapore.

The global event, regarded as one of the world's leading water conferences, has brought together government officials, development partners, water experts, and industry stakeholders to discuss innovative solutions to water and sanitation challenges across the world.
Nigeria's delegation to the conference is led by the Honourable Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Prof. Joseph Terlumun Utsev, who is engaging with international organisations and development partners to strengthen cooperation and attract support for the country's water sector.

Representing Governor Ademola Adeleke at the event, the Osun State Commissioner for Water Resources, Hon. Sunday Oroniyi, said the state's participation is aimed at establishing bilateral relationships with donor agencies that can support ongoing efforts to provide adequate and safe water for residents.

According to the Commissioner, discussions at the conference are expected to attract technical expertise and financial interventions that will complement the Adeleke administration's investments and ongoing reforms in the water sector, leading to improved service delivery across the state.

Hon. Oroniyi reaffirmed the commitment of Governor Adeleke's administration to expanding access to clean water and sustainable sanitation services, stressing that international partnerships remain critical to achieving the state's development goals and improving the wellbeing of the people.

As part of activities marking the opening of the conference, the Nigerian delegation was on June 16, 2026, received by the Head of Mission of the High Commission of Nigeria in Singapore, Ambassador Francisca K. Omayuli, who reiterated Nigeria's commitment to strengthening international cooperation in water resources management and sustainable development.
