Hajj 2026: 978 Osun Pilgrims Begins Journey Home, as First Jeddah-Lagos Flight Takes off Saturday

Following the successful completion of this years Hajj rituals in Makkah and Madinah, the first batch of the pilgrims is due back to Nigeria today.

The Board's Administrative Secretary of Osun State Pilgrims Welfare Board,, Mr. Muritala Fakunle disclosed this in a statement on Saturday, 

According to him, a total of 978 pilgrims will be airborne back to Lagos in the next five days on a three scheduled return flights.

He explained that  the first return flight, operated by Flynas Air with registration number XY-9488, is expected to arrive at the Hajj Transit Wing of Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, from Jeddah on Sunday morning.
He emphasized that the return operation would be conducted in two phases, with pilgrims in each phase travelling from Makkah to Jeddah before boarding their respective flights back to Lagos in line with a scheduled timetable.

Recall that a total of 978 pilgrims from Osun State participated in this year's Hajj, making the state one of the South West states with the highest number of pilgrims at this year's pilgrimage.

Earlier in his words, the Chairman of the Board, Sheikh (Dr.) Abdul Maruf Olawale Ishola, thanked Almighty Allah for the successful conduct of the 2026 Hajj exercise . He charged the returning pilgrims to let the spiritual lessons of Hajj reflect in their daily conduct. 

He urged them to abstain from any behaviour that could negate the spiritual  rewards of their pilgrimage, calling on them to return home as reformed individuals and worthy ambassadors of Islam.
