Osun DMA Boots Healthcare Delivery, Ensures Affordable Medicine Across Osun
The Osun State Government has strengthened healthcare delivery with the establishment of the Osun State Drugs and Medical Supplies Management Agency (OSUN-DMA), created to ensure the steady supply of safe, affordable and quality medicines across public health facilities in the state.
The agency, which was established in December 2024, had its management team constituted in February 2025 and officially commenced operations in May 2025, marking a new era in the management of drugs and medical supplies in Osun State.
Since its inauguration, OSUN-DMA has ensured the availability of quality-assured medicines in all secondary health facilities across the state, improving access to essential drugs for residents.
In a bid to promote fairness and affordability, the agency has also introduced uniform pricing of medicines in all secondary health facilities, ensuring that patients in both rural and urban areas buy medicines at the same subsidised rates.
The agency is also maintaining uninterrupted supply of medicines to all the 332 focal Primary Health Care centres in the state, where safe and quality drugs are made available free of charge to patients.
Similarly, OSUN-DMA has sustained regular supply of medicines to health facilities under the Osun State Health Insurance Scheme, guaranteeing enrollees access to the drugs they need without delay.
Speaking on the agency’s achievements, the Executive Secretary, Dr. Saheed Olanrewajudisclosed that UNICEF has commenced advanced-stage collaboration with the agency for the construction of a modern pharmaceutical-grade warehouse to further strengthen medicine storage and distribution across Osun State.
