Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to raising the standard of education across the state.

The Governor disclosed this at the Imole SSCE Scholarship Award Ceremony organised by Electronic Collections Group in collaboration with the Osun State Ministry of Education to celebrate academic excellence among students in the Senior Secondary Certificate Examination.

Governor Adeleke who used the award ceremony as a platform to outline his vision for academic excellence,  described the event as more than a celebration of achievement, but serves as a catalyst to inspire young people toward a brighter and more competitive future.
Addressing the award recipients at the epoch making event, which was held at Olagunsoye Oyinlola hall, Osun State University, Osogbo, Adeleke urged them to remain disciplined and focused on their academic journeys, emphasizing that their success represents the potential of Osun’s education system. He stressed that his government would continue to invest in policies and programmes that nurture talent and reward hard work among students.

The State helmsman also commended the Ministry of Education, teachers, and key stakeholders for their dedication to improving learning outcomes,  acknowledging the role of strategic partnerships, particularly with private sector contributors, in supporting initiatives that enhance educational development in the state.

In his remarks, the Vice Chancellor of Osun State University, Professor Clement Adeboboye, who was represented by Professor Maruf Olayiwola, praised the noticeable improvements recorded under Adeleke’s leadership, particularly in creating a more enabling environment for learning and academic growth.

In his own words, Commissioner for Education in Osun, Dipo Eluwole highlighted measurable progress, revealing that Osun has climbed significantly in national WAEC rankings, from 37th to 7th position since 2024. He attributed this achievement to targeted interventions such as free eye tests and surgeries for students, alongside broader systemic reforms.

Also speaking, the programme coordinator, Engineer Akinmade Akintoye, said the scholarship awards would become an annual event, adding that the selection of top-performing students was based on official records from WAEC.
The event concluded with the presentation of cash awards to outstanding learners, reinforcing the administration’s commitment to recognizing excellence and driving educational advancement in Osun State.
