Osun Joint Labour Movement Extols Governor Adeleke's Achievements

....rallies Support for His Return on August 15

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has been commended for making the negotiation and approval of #75,000 minimum wage for the State workers rancour free.

The State NLC Chairman, Comrade Christopher Arapasopo, who gave the commendation, adjudged the State salary table as the third best in the federation, enthusing that unlike negotiation at the national level which was arrived at with government and labour tables, Osun Helmsman gave labour leaders the leeway to produce a mutually acceptable salary table for the workforce.

Arapasopo, while addressing local government workers, in the multi-purpose hall of the LGSC, Abere emphasized that despite financial strangulation by the Federal Government," our salaries are paid as and when due, while workers' promotion, accompanied with financial backup, have been consistent since the advent of Imole Osun led government.

The labour leader recalled with passion:" When we discovered that a category of pensioners were collecting pitiable amount as low as #500, we approached the Governor to negotiate for their upgrade, in line with current economic reality, and he magnanimously approved minimum of #25,000 for them."

Arapasopo also told the gathering of LG workers that retirees, who are yet to collect their bonds, had received all the backlog of their half salaries since May last year, while politicians who served during the half salary regime are still collecting the same till date.

Speaking further on the magnanimity of Imole Osun led government towards a category of contributory pensioners, Arapasopo recounted that before Governor Adeleke came on board,"once you receive your bond, government severs all relationships with you. But now those in this class are now receiving #10, 000 monthly."

The NLC boss, who laced his presentation with songs of appreciation and support for the continuity of the current government, charged each worker to go all out in trumpeting the enunciated good works, and to individually mobilize 25 votes for the Governor on August 15.

Addressing the workforce, the Chairman, Osun State Local Government Service Commission, Hon Adetunji Adeleke (Jnr.) said the ongoing promotion exercise was deliberately mandated by Governor Ademola Adeleke because of their loyalty, steadfastness and commitment to public service.
He then counselled them to continue with their positive attitudes towards the government, promising that it will,in return ,not relent in using every opportunity to encourage and motivate them to greater productivity.

In his speech,  Commissioner 1, Osun State Local Government Service Commission, Hon Jimoh Adetoro expressed optimism that, "in view of  intimidating achievements of this government, we would have cause to laugh on August 15." He then admonished the electorate not to allow anybody to use federal might to intimidate them, declaring that God is the only one that has the ultimate power over the choice of who becomes what, when, where and how .
After his words of admonition,  Commissioner 2 of the Commission, Hon Adesina Alaran threw a rhetorical question to his rapt attentive audience," with what will you repay Governor Adeleke for his goodness?" which in return attracted a spontaneous thunderous one-word answer  "votes"

In his speech, the Permanent Secretary in the Commission, Mr Mudashiru Oyedeji observed that the promotion was borne out of the Governor's deep love for workers cum his unrepentant priority for their welfare, stressing that it was not convenient in view of the fact that the concomitant increments would translate into sourcing millions of naira.

Apparently alluding to the posture of "concerned local government workers", the Permanent Secretary beseeched them to repent, promising:" we would try to be fair to everybody, we are not here to punish any body unjustly. As a Commission,we would do whatever is within our capacity to upgrade your welfare."
The engagement, which enjoyed the full convoy of the entire labour leadership was graced by the Chairman, Trade Union Congress, Comrade Bimbo Fasasi, Chairman,Joint Negotiating Council Comrade Olalekan Adediran, as well as the management team of the Commission, along with the Forum Head of those in Finance & Account, Mr Oluwaseun Dunsin.
