Beware of reverting to era of career stagnation - Osun LGSC Chairman warns public servants

Public Servants in Osun State have been warned to beware of reverting to the era of compulsive career stagnation which they suffered during the 3-term tenure of immediate past administrations in the State.

This warning was given by the Chairman of Osun State Local Government Service Commission, Hon Tunji Adeleke (Jnr) while flagging off the 2026 promotion exercise for local government staff in the State.

Hon Tunji Adeleke asserted that since the advent of the Imole government in 2022, public servants have been enjoying steady promotion and progress.

Speaking on behalf of the Chairman, the Agency Commissioner 1, Hon Jimoh Adetoro stated that the current promotion would be cash backed right away, unlike paper promotions which were given by the previous administration.

The Commission boss then charged the rank and file of public servants to embark on mass vote mobilisation for the return of Governor Ademola Adeleke in the forthcoming gubernatorial election so that their welfare can continue unabated.

Speaking in the same vein, the second Commissioner in the establishment, Hon Adesina Alaran, who appreciated the workers for continued support to the current administration, also lauded the local government staff for being on the same page with the Commission authorities while the quagmire in the third tier of government lasted.

Hon Alaran specially appreciated the State Helmsman for approving the promotion under the prevailing circumstances.

Also speaking at the occasion, the Permanent Secretary in the Commission, Mr Mudashiru Oyedeji explained that those who were due for promotion in January would begin to enjoy the financial backing with immediate effect, while those who would be due in July would begin to enjoy the same with effect from July 2.

He therefore sued for hundred percent loyalty to the government of the day, emphasising," this government is resolutely committed to workers' welfare."

The Permanent Secretary however clarified that local government financial autonomy does not erode the administrative oversight of the Commission on local government affairs.

In his speech at the occasion, the State NULGE President, Comrade, Dr. Nathaniel Ogungbangbe asserted that since Governor Ademola Adeleke assumed the leadership of the State, he has been good to the entire workforce.

Dr. Ogungbangbe commended the Governor for his magnanimity in approving the promotion at this material time, pointing out that it is usually done between August and September of every year.

Highlights of the programme were songs of appreciation and solidarity that rent the air over and over during the exercise

Present at the occasion were the management staff of the Commission as well as the HLA Forum Head, Dr.Adewale Adedapo, alongside  the Forum Head of Administration and General Services with their  counterpart in Finance and Accounts Department respectively, Comrades H.O Lawal and Oluwaseun Dunsin.
