Adeleke Urges Corps Members to Champion Patriotism, Integrity in Osun

 Sunday Okunade

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has called on newly deployed National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members to embrace patriotism, integrity, and a strong commitment to nation-building throughout their service year. He encouraged them to see the programme as a rare opportunity to contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s development while also improving themselves.

The Governor made this appeal during the swearing-in ceremony marking the official opening of the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream II orientation course. The event took place at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Ede, where hundreds of corps members gathered to begin their one-year national assignment.
Adeleke noted that the presence of corps members from across the country, including those redeployed from Lagos State, highlights the core objective of the NYSC scheme, fostering unity, integration, and mutual understanding among Nigeria’s diverse population.

He assured the corps members that Osun State offers a peaceful, welcoming, and culturally vibrant environment. According to him, the state provides ample opportunities for them to learn, grow, and make meaningful contributions to their host communities.

The Governor emphasized the hospitable nature of the people of Osun, describing them as supportive and collaborative. He urged the corps members to integrate fully into their host communities, respect local traditions, and actively participate in community development initiatives.

Addressing security concerns, Adeleke reassured the corps members that their safety remains a top priority for his administration, stating that the government has partnered with relevant security agencies to ensure a safe and conducive environment throughout their stay.
He also advised them to remain vigilant and strictly follow all security guidelines provided by NYSC authorities. This, he said, is essential to safeguarding their well-being during the service year.

The Governor commended the NYSC State Coordinator and camp officials for successfully organizing the orientation programme. He further praised the NYSC State Governing Board for its continued support and policy direction, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to improving the welfare and security of corps members.

In his welcome address, NYSC State Coordinator Ekeng Ita Kubiangha expressed appreciation to the Governor for his consistent support, particularly the prompt payment of state allowances and recent upgrades to camp facilities.
He disclosed that 2,600 corps members comprising 1,200 males and 1,400 females were deployed to Osun.

He urged them to remain law-abiding, avoid partisan politics ahead of the August 15 governorship election in Osun, and uphold discipline both offline and online.
