Osun 2026: Governor Adeleke seeks support of Islamic Society for the Success of the Governorship Polls

As residents of Osun prepares to go to the field to elect leader who will be piloting the affairs of the State for the next four years, Governor Ademola Adeleke has requested for the support of Islamic Society through prayers for a free and fair elections and for the will of the people to prevail.
The Governor made the appeal while hosting the delegation of the Ansarudeen Society of Nigeria, Iwo branch at government house, Osogbo. He commended the society for the huge sacrifice made by cooperating with the government for development to thrive in the State, emphasising that their concessions and contributions will not be taken for granted.
The Governor who used the opportunity to announce the upgraded Five Point Agenda on which he will base his re-election campaign such as, Integration of youth, women and Workers' Welfare and empowerment; infrastructure consolidation for Citizens’ social and economic wellbeing; Agro-Industrial expansion for human development and collective prosperity; affordable, qualitative health and education access; as well as improved and secured business environment for job creation.
He further noted that the agenda is built on the original 2022 five point agenda which his administration has faithfully implemented, asserting that his administration has delivered on the electoral promises to Osun people.
The State helmsman who berated his opponents who undermined his performance used the avenue to list some of his achievements in less than four years to include; enforcement of equitable spread in infrastructure allocation; sticking to the rule of law in governance crises; implementation of merit based pre-election teachers’ recruitment despite financial constraints; and adhering to procurement regulations in project execution.
Others are; implementation of Imole Medical outreach with almost 80 thousand beneficiaries, reviving of Osun cocoa revolution through aggressive seedling distribution and new farmers’ initiative; acquisition of brand new tractors now serving farmers across the state, implementation of thousands of local projects through integrated rural development under O-RAMP; introduction of 45 days windows for acquisition of certificate of occupancy, the revival of Osun free trade zones with active investors; empowerment of Osun cooperatives movement with almost N4billion naira; support and strengthening of community development associations (CDA) with grassroots health and infra projects; reduction of Osun debt stock by over 40 percent according to the National Debt Management Office, just to mention few.
He therefore promised Osun people that when he his re-elected, he will continue to run an inclusive, forward looking and world class governance for the good of the people, as well as expanding consultative networks. He also emphasized that he will sustain multiple sectoral growth; pursue implementation of sustainable growth across sectors under multi-sectoral development strategies, among others.
However , the Governor promised to support the new mosque project, saying government will work with them on ways to achieve productive partnership to make the project a reality.
Speaking earlier, the Secretary of the Iwo branch of the Ansarudeen Society of Nigeria, Pharmacist Afeez Akande, commended the administration of Ademola Adeleke for what he described as remarkable developmental projects in Iwo.
Akande specifically praised the ongoing construction work on the Adeeke/Odo-Ori road and other infrastructure projects in the town, noting that the efforts have significantly improved the area. He added that members of the society are satisfied with the governor’s performance and fully support his administration, pledging their backing for his second-term bid.
Akande, however, appealed to the government for financial assistance to construct a new mosque on a recently acquired piece of land. He explained that the former mosque used by the society was demolished by the government to make way for the ongoing road construction project.
