Osun to Host Another Stewardship Programme Tomorrow as LG Crises Takes Centre Stage
Legal practitioners from government and opposition party to engage in live radio debate across 26 stations
Osun State is set to host another edition of its monthly public accountability programme, Stewardship, tomorrow, with the lingering Local Government crisis taking centre stage of discussions across the state.
The live radio programme will focus on the protracted Osun Local Government imbroglio between the two sides of the political divide, as legal practitioners representing the state government and the opposition prepare to engage in an extensive legal discourse on the matter.
Stewardship is a monthly public accountability radio programme designed by the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke to provide a platform where government activities, policies and programmes are openly discussed and subjected to public scrutiny. The programme is usually broadcast simultaneously on 26 radio stations across Osun State.
According to a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, who also serves as the chief host of the programme, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi, tomorrow’s edition will take a new and distinctive dimension, running from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., with exclusive attention devoted to the Local Government crisis.
The commissioner explained that the programme will provide a veritable avenue for legal practitioners from both the Osun State Government and the opposition camps to interface, critically examine the issues, and address the contentious matters surrounding the Local Government debacle strictly from legal perspectives.
He noted that the discussion is expected to shed more light on the legal arguments underpinning the crisis, thereby helping the public to better understand the positions of both sides in the ongoing impasse.
Listeners within and outside the state will have access to the programme through the various participating radio stations as well as online platforms, including social media channels and Radio Garden.
Members of the public will also be allowed to call in via dedicated telephone lines during the two-hour programme, as the legal representatives of both camps engage in what promises to be an intense and enlightening legal exchange.
