Osun Govt Ends Three-year Power Outage in Irepodun with 500KVA Transformer

As part of the dividend of democracy under the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke, the Osun State Government has commissioned and dedicated a fully functional 500kVA electricity transformer to the Irepodun communities of Alafia Tayo, Testing Ground, Baraka and Omole in Ilesa West Local Government Area.

The transformer, donated through the Ministry of Energy, has already been energised and is currently supplying electricity to the benefiting communities, ending over three years of prolonged blackout and restoring socio-economic activities in the area.

Speaking at the dedication ceremony, the Commissioner for Energy, Hon. Festus Adeyemo, described the project as a clear demonstration of Governor Adeleke’s unwavering commitment to inclusive development and people-oriented governance. He said the provision of stable electricity would stimulate businesses, enhance learning in schools and improve the quality of life of residents.
Hon. Adeyemo expressed profound appreciation to Governor Adeleke for his visionary leadership, assuring that the administration would continue to expand access to reliable energy across communities in Osun State.

In his remarks, the Chairman of Ilesa West Local Government, Hon. Diti Aluko, commended the state government for sustaining developmental projects despite financial challenges facing local governments and urged residents to continue supporting Governor Adeleke to ensure continuity of good governance.

Delivering a welcome address, the Overall Chairman of Irepodun Imadin Communities, Chief Tayo Omole, recalled the hardship experienced during years of darkness and several unsuccessful appeals for intervention, describing the transformer as not only a symbol but the epitome of light and responsive leadership.

Chief Omole assured the state government of the communities’ commitment to safeguarding the facility and utilising it responsibly, while also appealing for additional infrastructure such as electricity poles, roads and a primary health centre.
The dedication ceremony was attended by the Onimadin of Imadin, Chief Olamilekan Adebamji Ogunlakin; Chief Mrs. Ojo (Yeye Rise of Ijesa Land); community representatives including Prince Adesina of Irepodun Testing Ground and Mr. Omonijo of Alafia Tayo, alongside residents who pledged continued support for Governor Adeleke’s administration.
