Osun Govt reaffirms commitment to sanitation at world toilet day 2025

The Osun State Government has renewed its commitment to improved sanitation, hygiene, and access to safe water at the 2025 World Toilet Day celebration held in Opete community, Odo-Otin Local Government Area.

Speaking at the event, the Commissioner for Water Resources, Hon. Dr. Sunday Olufemi Oroniyi, described sanitation as critical to public health and human dignity, stressing that the state is scaling up efforts to eliminate open defecation.

He said the Rural Water Supply and Environmental Sanitation Agency (RUWESA) is strengthening rural sanitation infrastructure, promoting hygiene awareness, and expanding access to safe water across the state.

In a related remark, the Special Adviser to the Governor on RUWESA noted that the agency is driving sustainable water, sanitation, and hygiene services, particularly at the grassroots.
Hon. Dr. Oroniyi commended Governor Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke for prioritising WASH initiatives, saying the interventions are improving health outcomes and living conditions in Osun.

The event drew key stakeholders, including the Chairman of the Osun State Water Corporation, Hon. Sam Oyedotun; senior officials of the Ministry of Water Resources; the General Manager of RUWESA, Mrs. Ibidun Odelola; and residents of Opete community.
