Osun emerges as a growing hub for investment, innovation

Osun State Governor,Senator Ademola Adeleke has observed with joy and satisfaction how the state under his governance is rapidly positioning itself as a rising hub for investment, innovation, and economic opportunity.
The governor made this known while addressing stakeholders on innovation, science, technology and digital economy during the Osun Tech Hangout held at the State Government Banquet Hall, Osogbo.
Governor Adeleke noted that his administration is not only developing physical infrastructure such as roads and bridges, but also making significant strides in technology, innovation and digital empowerment.
The governor also at the event explained that his government has prioritized the use of digital applications to enhance governance. through the Osun Investment Portal, initiation of the 45-day C of O application system, introduction of a harmonized and digitalized annual tax billing process among others like the Imole Free WiFi network across the state.
Governor Adeleke further revealed that targeted ICT training programmes and the annual innovation challenges are creating opportunities for entrepreneurship and job creation.
Consequently, he directed the Ministry of Innovation, Science, Technology and Digital Economy to deploy Imole EduPods, solar-powered, containerized CBT centres across the state to prepare students for examinations and promote digital inclusivity just as he also announced plans to establish the Osun Tech Trust Fund to finance these initiatives and expand the state’s startup ecosystem.
The governor confirmed the domestication of the Nigerian Startup Act in Osun, making the state one of the few in Nigeria to adopt the legislation. Implementation, he noted, will begin immediately. At the event, he presented a cheque of ₦5 million to the winners of the 2024 Innovation Challenge and announced the Osun Tech Festival, scheduled to hold from February 19 to 20, 2026.
Earlier in his remarks, the Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun, commended the governor for signing the Startup Act, describing it as a step that will propel Osun forward with clarity, purpose, and confidence. He noted that the law will provide young innovators, creators, and entrepreneurs with the structure, support, funding, and protection needed to transform their ideas into viable businesses.
Also speaking, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Innovation, Science, Technology and Digital Economy, Hon. Azeez Badmus, described the Osun Tech Hangout as a unique opportunity to engage directly with the governor and strengthen Osun’s technology ecosystem through collaboration and shared vision. He stated that equipping the youth with ICT skills remains a priority of the administration, as targeted digital training programmes are preparing the next generation to thrive in a technology-driven economy.
