2025 Christmas Carol: Pastor Oyelami Urges Christians to Live the Lessons of Christ's Birth

Sunday Okunade

It was an atmosphere of joy, worship and celebration in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, as the Gospel Musicians Association of Nigeria (GOMAN), Osogbo Zone, organised its 2025 Christmas Carol Service in grand style to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ.

The event, which was the first of its kind in the zone, drew gospel music lovers, Christian faithful and dignitaries who gathered to celebrate the Messiah through songs, prayers and thanksgiving.

The venue was filled with melodious renditions, energetic dance and heartfelt worship, as participants expressed gratitude to God, creating an electrifying spiritual ambience throughout the service.
Delivering the sermon, Pastor Timothy Oyelami, who took his text from Isaiah 9:6, said the birth of Jesus Christ was divinely ordained for the salvation of mankind, stressing the need for individuals to surrender their lives to Christ.

He admonished Christians not to limit Christmas celebrations to fanfare alone, but to imbibe the lessons of Christ’s birth by showing love to one another, living righteously and celebrating the season with moderation.

Speaking on the theme of the programme, “Jesus,” Pastor Oyelami explained that God’s love for humanity was the reason He sent His only begotten Son into the world, urging believers to always remember the true purpose of Christmas.
He added that Jesus is only pleased with those who do His will, charging Christians to reflect Christ in their daily conduct beyond the festive period.

In his royal remarks, the Obarisa of Ilemo-Ijesa, Oba Ebeneezer Ogunmodede, who attended the event with his wife, thanked God for the leadership and members of GOMAN for organising the programme and promoting gospel music.

The monarch pledged his continued support for gospel ministers and prayed for divine guidance and greater heights in their musical careers.

Earlier, the Chairperson of GOMAN, Osogbo Zone, Mrs Michell Adefioye, in her welcome address, commended members for their unity and cooperation, noting that the success of the programme was a collective effort, while appreciating all well-wishers and guests.
She emphasised that the celebration of Christ’s birth should inspire sober reflection on its significance, encouraging believers to keep their faith alive and burning, as the programme featured song ministrations, prayers, scripture readings, drama and other spiritual activities.
