Serve with dedication, integrity -- Gov. Adeleke urges newly inaugurated TIDE members

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke haa officially inaugurated  the newly formed Osun State  Advisory Council for Technology, Innovation and Digital Economy (TIDE) .

Performing the inauguration in Osogbo, the State Capital, Governor Adeleke charged the members to serve with dedication and integrity, noting that their mandate goes beyond offering advice and extends to shaping the future of Osun State.

Represented by the Commissioner for Political and Intergovernmental Affairs, Dr Biyi Odunlade, the Governor urged the council members to collaborate closely with ministries, institutions, youth organizations and the private sector, with a declaration that technology only thrives on partnership as no single agency can drive progress alone.

Senator adeleke emphasised that technology in Osun state must not be left behind in the digital age, especially as it continues to influence governance, education, business, security and agriculture.

He noted that the creation of the TIDE Council forms part of the government’s long-term strategy to build a strong digital economy.

According to him, "a collaboration between the council and the state government will help create an ecosystem that supports learning, creativity and enterprise development", the Governor emphasized. 

In his remarks, the Commissioner for Innovation, Science, Technology and Digital Economy, Hon. Maruf Dele Ayofe, said Osun State has embraced a bold commitment to reposition science, technology and digital innovation as a key driver of sustainable development, good governance and economic prosperity.

He stated that the theme, “Harnessing Digital Excellence: A New Era for Technology and Innovation,” is not merely aspirational but a declaration of direction intended to unlock the full potential of digital transformation across all sectors, including agriculture, education, healthcare, enterprise, civic engagement and public service delivery.

Hon. Ayofe noted that the inauguration of the council signals the dawn of a new era anchored on collaboration, creativity, research, cutting-edge innovation and strategic policy guidance. He described the members as custodians of a future that demands courage, foresight and unwavering commitment, qualities necessary to inspire technological advancement, promote digital inclusion and guide Osun toward a knowledge-driven economy.

Also speaking, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Innovation, Science, Technology and Digital Economy, Hon. Azeez Badmus, urged the council members to remain dutiful and dedicated in order to justify the confidence reposed in them.

 He encouraged them to use their digital expertise to add value to the state and promote its technological advancement.

Hon. Badmus explained that the 15-member board is expected to shape the state’s digital future, noting that the ministry is working to foster stronger collaboration between the private sector and government. He added that membership requirements include being an indigene of Osun and having attained a significant level of digital competence.

One of the newly inaugurated council members, Mr. Segun Solomon, stated that one of the core goals of the programme is to strengthen the digital economy and position Osun as a major technology hub in Nigeria.
