Osun Govt empowers, provides financial support for women to kick-start business

Osun State government has empowered women drawn from all the local government areas of the state with skills in various vocations like soap making, gele tying, tie-and-dye among others. 

The training, organized by the Ministry of Women Affairs, Children, and Social Welfare, aimed to equip the women with skills for financial independence.

Speaking at the programme which was held at the Conference Hall of the Ministry,  Commissioner for Women Affairs, Children and Social Welfare, Chief (Mrs.) Ayobola  Awolowo appreciated Governor Ademola Adeleke for his contributions to the development of women and the state at large.

Mrs Awolowo noted that the training was designed to empower the women and make them economically stable.

In her opening remarks, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Children, Women, and Social Welfare Hon. Sekinat Temilade Khalid stated that the empowerment programme is part of Governor Adeleke's effort to enhance the economic well-being of women in the state. She emphasized that acquiring the skills would enable the beneficiaries to provide means of livelihoods for themselves and their families.

One of the beneficiaries, Iyaafin Adeola Adeshola expressed gratitude to the Governor and the Ministry, saying the programme had changed her life as she now has the skills to start up her own business.

The highlight of the training was the display of gele-tying, tie and dye, and soap making techniques.
