Adeleke showcases Osun's investment potentials, woos Chinese investors to free trade zone
Governor Ademola Adeleke has highlighted Osun State’s expanding business opportunities and its impressive performance on the ease of doing business rating, urging genuine investors to take advantage of the Osun Free Trade Zone. He made the call while hosting a delegation of multi-sectoral investors from China at the Government House in Osogbo.
The governor told the delegation that his administration is aggressively addressing infrastructural deficits to create a more conducive environment for business operations. He noted that the Free Trade Zone is already attracting interest, with several investors beginning activities within the zone and other industrial corridors across the state.
Adeleke explained that the state government is investing heavily in roads, bridges, schools, utilities, and health infrastructure to support economic expansion. According to him, improved infrastructure plays a critical role in business growth and remains a priority of his administration.
Highlighting key reforms, the governor said Osun has harmonised and automated its tax system to ease the burden on businesses. He added that the introduction of a 48-hour automated Certificate of Occupancy issuance has significantly boosted the state's ease of doing business rating, making Osun one of the most investor-friendly states in Nigeria.
Adeleke assured the Chinese delegation of full government backing, noting that the Ministry of Commerce and Industry is led by professionals with international exposure who are well-equipped to support all investment processes. He encouraged the team to take advantage of the opportunities available in the Free Trade Zone.
Speaking on behalf of Shanghai Fadewei International Trade Company Limited, Dr. Yusuf Fadairo said the Chinese team selected Osun State for two major reasons: their admiration for international music star David Adeleke (Davido) and consistent reports of good governance from the Adeleke administration. He disclosed that Davido enjoys even greater popularity in China than in Nigeria, which has increased Chinese interest in Osun.
Fadairo further stated that the investors were impressed with the facilities and utilities at the Free Trade Zone after conducting an inspection tour. He confirmed that the company is ready to set up multiple factories in Osun once pending regulatory processes are completed.
The delegation included Mr. Zheng Lifa (Amusement Park Operations), Mr. Zhai Yikang and Mr. Yu Lu (Paint Production), Mr. Yao Weide (Electric Tricycle Manufacturing), Prince Charles Ajiboye (Logistics Manager), and Mr. Bamigboye Olabode (Company Engineer). The courtesy visit also had in attendance the Secretary to the State Government, Hon. Teslim Igbalaye; the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Rev. Bunmi Jenyo; media entrepreneur Femi Adefila; and several top government officials.
