The First Lady of Osun State, Chief (Mrs). Titilola Adeleke, has urged well-meaning Nigerians at home and abroad to imbibe the spirit of giving back to society particularly on health and well-being of the people.
She gave the charge while flagging-off a four-day free medical, school and community outreach organized by Hope Across Ages Foundation UK, in collaboration with the Osun State Ministry of Health.
The programme held at the State Specialist Hospital, Asubiaro, Osogbo.
She commended the convener of the programme, Dr. Titilayo Eniitan Kolawole, an Osun indigene based in the United Kingdom, for her commitment to humanitarian service, describing it as a worthy example of selfless contribution to the development of society.
The First Lady noted that the three-in-one outreach, which includes free medical checkups, distribution of drugs to over 200 elderly citizens, educational support for children, and food distribution to residents across selected communities, aligns with the present administration’s five-point agenda aimed at improving the welfare of Osun residents.
She emphasized that the task of making life better for the people should not be left to government alone.
In his welcome address, the Permanent Secretary, Osun State Ministry of Health, Dr. Isiaka Adekunle, appreciated the initiative as a significant contribution to the state’s efforts in health promotion, education, and social support.
In their separate goodwill messages, the Commissioner for Health, Barr. Jola Akintola, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Primary Health Care, Dr. Michael Oyerinde, and the Permanent Secretary, Hospitals Management Board
( HMB) Dr. Abayomi Oni applauded the foundation for complementing the state government’s people-oriented policies. They also reiterated Governor Ademola Adeleke’s commitment to improving access to quality healthcare services and partnering with organizations that promote community development.
Explaining the motivation behind the outreach, the founder, Dr. Titilayo Kolawole, said the programme was designed to assist vulnerable individuals in the areas of healthcare, education, and food support. She appreciated the Osun First Lady for her passion for the welfare of citizens and urged participants to prioritize regular medical checkups for early detection and prevention of illnesses.
Drugs and other relief materials were later distributed to beneficiaries, who in turn applauded the initiative.
