The Osun State Water Regulatory Commission has announced the immediate suspension of the operations of Royal Gem Multi Sector Ltd, a firm previously engaged in government revenue collection on borehole drilling permits.
The suspension, contained in a press release signed by the Acting Chairman of the Osun Internal Revenue Service (OIRS), Hon. Hamzat Solanke, will remain in force until further notice.
According to him, the decision became necessary due to what he described as “encumbrances surrounding the modalities of operations” of the company.
Hon. Solanke clarified that while the activities of Royal Gem have been halted, the Water Regulatory Commission will continue its core duties of regulating and supervising borehole drilling, as well as water testing and certification across the state.
He stressed that the suspension has no effect on the Commission’s statutory responsibilities.
Reassuring citizens of the government’s sincerity, Solanke reiterated the commitment of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration to prioritizing the well-being of the people.
He emphasized that the government would not take any step capable of undermining the peace and stability currently being enjoyed in Osun State.
