In a bid to strengthen communication within the public service, the Osun State Government, in partnership with Globacom Limited, today distributed and registered Glo SIM cards for public servants at the Local Government Service Commission.
Speaking at the launch, Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke, described the initiative as a thoughtful and timely intervention that will enhance efficiency in government business across the state.
He explained that the introduction of 20,000 Glo Imole Connect lines, operating under a Closed User Group (CUG), is a bold step toward improving connectivity among public servants. The package, he noted, comes with significantly reduced call and data rates, making it affordable and practical for official communication.
Governor Adeleke emphasized that the new service will ensure faster information flow between agencies and officers at all levels, thereby closing communication gaps, fostering alignment, and making public service more responsive, connected, and productive. He also commended Globacom for its partnership and investment in Osun State’s digital transformation journey.
Earlier in his address welcome , Commissioner for Innovation, Science, Technology and Digital Economy, Hon. Dele Maruf Ayofe, described Glo Imole Connect as more than just a service but a symbol of the government’s commitment to progress and its vision of a digitally empowered future. He urged civil servants to embrace the tool as a resource designed to help them excel in their duties and contribute to a more prosperous Osun State.
Also speaking, Chairman of Trade Union Congress (TUC), Comrade Animbola Fasasi commended the Governor for introducing the initiative, which he said will enable workers to communicate at cheaper rates. He further praised the Governor for consistently paying salaries despite challenges with federal allocations, while urging the government to remit local government deductions. Fasasi also encouraged workers to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the coming elections.
Representing Globacom, Mr. Adeniyi Odejobi applauded Governor Adeleke for his commitment to connecting people and prioritizing the welfare of civil servants and pensioners. He disclosed that the Imole Connect initiative will also benefit teachers and students, enabling them to communicate directly with the Governor and foster greater inclusivity.
