Osun 2026: Odeniyi Mobilises Market Women, Traders to Secure PVCs for Adeleke's Re-Election
Sunday Okunade
The Special Adviser to Osun State Governor on Public Enlightenment, Hon. Eniola Odeniyi, has intensified grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2026 governorship election, urging market women and traders across the state to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) as a political weapon to sustain the present administration’s developmental strides.
Odeniyi, who led the Department of Grassroots and Public Enlightenment of the Ministry of Information and Public Enlightenment to Oja Oje Olobi in Ede, said the Adeleke administration has redefined governance in Osun through people-oriented policies and massive infrastructural interventions that must not be truncated.
Addressing the traders, Odeniyi stressed that the re-election of Governor Ademola Adeleke in 2026 is not just a political project but a collective responsibility to safeguard the future of Osun State. According to him, only by securing their PVCs can the people consolidate the gains of ongoing reforms in road construction, healthcare delivery, agricultural support, and welfare for workers and pensioners.
He highlighted the governor’s unwavering commitment to prompt payment of salaries, gratuities, and pensions, as well as the provision of walking aids for physically challenged citizens, describing Adeleke as a compassionate leader who has restored hope in governance. Odeniyi further appealed to the market community to sustain their prayers and support for the government as it deepens democratic dividends at the grassroots.
Also speaking, the Iyaloja General of Osun State, Chief (Mrs) Mary Oyebode, rallied traders to close ranks behind Governor Adeleke, stressing that his administration has put an end to capital flight by engaging local contractors, thereby boosting sales and strengthening the state’s economy. She declared that Adeleke remains the best option for Osun beyond 2026.
Mrs. Oyebode emphasized that the only way to guarantee continuity of the present reforms is for every eligible voter, particularly traders and artisans, to possess their PVCs. She lauded the governor’s decision to prioritise local capacity and called on market leaders to champion the voter sensitisation drive across all communities.
Corroborating the Iyaloja General, the Babalola of Oja Oje Olobi, Alhaji Ismael Olaiya, and the Iyaloja of Ede Market, Alhaja Memunat Ajagbe, pledged unwavering support for the Adeleke administration. They noted that the governor’s people-first approach has brought dignity to governance, while appealing for the provision of boreholes in the market as part of ongoing grassroots interventions.
The event turned into a resounding endorsement for Governor Adeleke, with traders, artisans, and market leaders vowing to stand firmly with his administration and mobilise their members for massive voter participation in 2026. The consensus at the rally was clear: securing PVCs is not just a civic duty but the political pathway to consolidating the Adeleke transformation agenda in Osun State.
