Artisans, traders, and market women from across the 30 local government areas of Osun State have thrown their weight behind Governor Ademola Adeleke, endorsing him for a second term in office ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
The endorsement rally, which held at Freedom Park in Osogbo, witnessed a massive turnout of supporters, all united in their declaration of confidence in the governor’s leadership and performance in office.
Governor Adeleke, while addressing the jubilant crowd, described the show of support as overwhelming and pledged to remain committed to the delivery of good governance across the state.
He recalled that the rally came shortly after similar endorsements by civil servants and farmers, stressing that the wave of support across sectors was a validation of his administration’s people-centered policies.
The governor assured the people of Osun that their trust would not be betrayed, emphasizing that his government had consistently prioritized workers’ welfare, grassroots development, and investments in critical sectors of the state economy.
Adeleke also used the occasion to encourage eligible residents to register and collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), stressing that it remains the most powerful tool to sustain continuity of development and progress in Osun State.
Leaders of the supporting groups took turns to explain why they were rallying behind Adeleke. The representative of artisans, Mr. Waheed Lawal, highlighted the governor’s strides in clearing salary arrears and sustaining prompt wage payments, even in the face of withheld local governments allocations by the federal government of Nigeria.
On her part, the Iyaloja General of Osun, Mrs. Mary Oyebade, pointed to the administration’s ambitious infrastructural projects, such as the construction of flyovers in all three senatorial districts, massive road rehabilitation, and the ongoing “Light Up Osun” project, which according to her has boosted commerce and improved security during night hours.
Other group leaders at the rally expressed optimism that Governor Adeleke’s second term would consolidate on the gains of the first, pledging their continued support to ensure his re-election in 2026.
