Governor Adeleke Urges Students to Pursue Excellence in Education
Sunday Okunade
Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has charged students across the state to strive for excellence in their academic pursuits, noting that education remains the strongest tool for individual success and societal development.
The governor gave the charge at the NYSC Orientation Camp, Ede, during an education support programme organised by Hon. Bamidele Salam, the lawmaker representing Ede North/Ede South/Egbedore/Ejigbo Federal Constituency.
He commended Hon. Salam for his commitment to education through the award of bursaries and distribution of learning materials to thousands of students.
Adeleke described the initiative as a practical step that directly impacts lives and secures the future of young people. He highlighted that the bursaries presented to 1,500 students would ease the financial burden of schooling, while the provision of books, bags, and other materials to over 3,000 secondary school students would enhance their readiness to learn.
According to him, such interventions complement government’s efforts in building a more inclusive and supportive educational system.
He also applauded the grants extended to student bodies and the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), saying they would further strengthen their capacity to inspire and support members.
Governor Adeleke reminded the beneficiaries that education is a shared responsibility between government, families, and communities. He maintained that while government continues to improve schools and expand opportunities, students must also play their part by studying hard, staying focused, and making the best use of the opportunities available to them.
He urged the young learners to honour the sacrifices of their parents, teachers, and benefactors through academic distinction, adding that their success would not only reward those efforts but also contribute to the overall progress of Osun State.
The governor concluded by calling for stronger collaboration among legislators, communities, and stakeholders in education, stressing that collective action is necessary to build a solid foundation for the next generation.
