Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has restated his administration’s commitment to delivering enduring infrastructure across the state, with a special focus on grassroots development.
Represented by the Commissioner for Special Duties, Dr. B.T. Salam, at the official flag-off of the reconstruction of the Popo–Itaakun–Olufi–Molak Road in Ikire, Governor Adeleke expressed deep appreciation to the people for their patience and resilience. He assured them that his government would not relent in prioritizing projects that directly improve the daily lives of residents.
Dr. Salam noted that the project, billed for completion within four to six months, reflects the Adeleke administration’s drive to spread development equitably across Osun. He urged the people of Ikire to continue their support for the government, stressing that meaningful transformation can only be achieved through the cooperation of the citizenry.
He pledged that the Popo–Itaakun–Olufi–Molak Road would stand as yet another testament to his government’s commitment to grassroots-centered and people-oriented development.
Also speaking at the event, Senator Lere Akogun, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Works and representative of Osun West Senatorial District, emphasized the need to address inner community roads as a first step to sustainable development. He maintained that Ikire’s progress must be defined by its specific needs rather than by projects in other towns.
In his technical briefing, Engr. Ojebode Moruf, Director of Highways, assured residents that the road will be constructed to the highest standards, featuring reinforced concrete drains, culverts, a stone base, and a durable asphalt finish. He described the project as a legacy that will ease transportation, boost commerce, and uplift living standards in Ikire.
Engr. Moruf further highlighted other recent projects completed across Aiyedaade, Irewole, and Isokan local government areas, including key road rehabilitations and culvert constructions, underscoring the broader impact of the current administration’s infrastructural drive.
