Adeleke Reaffirms Loyalty to PDP, Dismisses Defection Rumour
The Osun State Government has debunked reports suggesting that Governor Ademola Adeleke is planning to defect to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing the claim as false and misleading.
In a statement signed by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, the government stressed that Governor Adeleke remains firmly committed to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and has no intention of joining the ADC or any other political party.
The statement noted that the Governor’s primary focus is on delivering the dividends of democracy to the people of Osun, who overwhelmingly entrusted him with their mandate three years ago. It further highlighted Adeleke’s active role, alongside PDP leaders, in strengthening party structures and mobilizing citizens for the ongoing voter registration exercise ahead of next year’s election.
According to the release, those behind the rumour are only attempting to exploit the governor’s growing popularity and the wave of unsolicited endorsements he continues to receive across the state.
The government therefore urged the public to disregard the false report, assuring that Adeleke’s re-election bid will be firmly pursued under the PDP platform.
Supporters and party members were also advised to remain focused on mobilization and not be distracted by political propaganda.
“Governor Adeleke remains a man of the people, fully aligned with the will and confidence of Osun citizens in the PDP and his leadership,” the statement concluded.
