The formal inauguration of the rehabilitation project for Idasa Street leading to Adeti Junction Road in Ilesha was heralded with great enthusiasm and expectations. The significant event was presided over by Dr. B. T. Salaam, Commissioner for Special Duties, who represented Governor Ademola Adeleke.
In his address, Dr. Salaam expressed gratitude to the residents of the Idasa community in Ilesha West for their steadfast support since 2018, noting that the Governor values their loyalty as he seeks re-election. He emphasized that the people have wisely aligned with a leader who genuinely understands and addresses their needs rather than politicians who make empty promises.
The Commissioner also commended the Chairman of SUBEB, Hon. Ibunkun Fadipe, for championing development in his community. He assured that the road rehabilitation project, expected to be completed within four to five months, would enhance connectivity, boost business activities, and stimulate local economic growth. He appealed to residents to cooperate with engineers working on the site.
Speaking at the event, the Director of Highways, Engr. Ojebode Maruf, highlighted eight completed projects across Ilesha, including the ongoing dualization of Ereja Square roundabout to Imo Brewery, refurbishment of the Ilesa/Akure Expressway, and rehabilitation efforts at Ita Ofa, Oromu, Araromi Market Gate, Atakunmosa Market, Obiteni, and Omo Ofe Road. These, he said, are driving holistic community development.
On the Idasa Street project, Engr. Maruf explained that construction will start from Orita Iyabo supermarket to Oromu junction, featuring reinforced concrete drainage, box culverts, approved lateritic filling, a 150-meter crushed stone base, and a 40mm asphalt wearing course to ensure durability.
Also present at the ceremony was Chief Dayo Ogini, representing the Owa Obokun of Ijeshaland, Oba Clement Adesuyi Haastrup. Delivering the monarch’s message, Chief Ogini conveyed the Owa’s blessings and goodwill, saying, “The palace of the Owa Obokun stands firmly in support of every genuine effort to transform Ilesha. We thank the government for listening to the yearnings of our people, and we urge residents to protect and value this new development.”
Hon. Ibunkun Fadipe, in his remarks, thanked Governor Adeleke for addressing the community’s pressing needs while urging for additional road projects in Ilesha West. He also reaffirmed the people’s commitment to supporting the Governor’s re-election agenda.
The project is expected to significantly uplift Idasa Street, bringing both infrastructural renewal and socio-economic advancement to the Ilesha community.
