Osun Water Commissioner, AIG Zone 11 Meet on Water Regulation, Security Collaboration


In a move to improve water management and ensure strict compliance with water regulations and security matters in Osun State, Commissioner for Water Resources, Hon. Sunday Olufemi Oroniyi, has met with the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 11, AIG Emuobo Fred Okokotu in order to fine tune a collaboration on water regulations and security matters concerning water provisions in the State.

The meeting which was held at the Zone 11 Headquarters in Osogbo, focused on key areas such as regulating groundwater abstraction, strengthening the monitoring of Water Service Providers (WSPs), and partnering with security agencies to enforce water-related laws across the state.
Hon. Oroniyi highlighted the dangers of over-using groundwater and stressed the need for improved service delivery by water providers. He also called for stronger enforcement to tackle illegal activities and protect public water facilities.

Also present was the Executive Secretary of the Osun Water Regulatory Commission (OSWRC), Engr. Rafiu Lukmon, who assured that the Commission is fully committed to supporting ongoing water sector reforms through effective regulation and stakeholder collaboration.

The meeting is part of the Commissioner’s broader efforts, which include inspecting waterworks, pushing for dam dredging, and upgrading infrastructure to ensure a steady water supply for all residents of Osun State.
