Osun takes fire safety measure to Schools, reiterates commitment to prevention of fire disaster

Osun State Government has
launched a comprehensive fire safety and disaster management training programme for all public and private secondary schools across the state's three senatorial districts.
The initiative was spearheaded by the Ministry of Home Affairs in partnership with the Ministry of Education aimed at enhancing safety awareness and emergency preparedness in educational institutions.
Speaking at the flag-off ceremony held at Osogbo Grammar School, Commissioner for Home Affairs, Hon. Abdulrasheed Kayode Aderibigbe, emphasized Governor Adeleke's commitment to protecting lives and property across the state.
According to the commissioner "This administration places premium value on the safety of every Osun citizen, which is why we are taking this sensitization campaign beyond schools to markets, worship centers and communities.
"I urge you to see the training as a continuous exercise to ensure sustained awareness about fire prevention and disaster management.
"Disasters don't give warnings. The knowledge gained here today should be implemented in your schools, homes and workplaces to safeguard lives and property," Adeleke advised.
The acting Permanent Secretary of the Home Affairs Ministry, Mrs Oladimeji Adenike lauded Governor Adeleke for initiating the program .
She charged education officials to ensure the safety messages reach all schools.
Director of Private Schools in Osun state , Alh.R.O Kareem, in his goodwill message described the initiative as timely . He also commended governor for his proactive approach to safety matters.
The training featured practical sessions on fire extinguisher uses, emergency evacuation procedures, and basic first aid techniques to equip participants with life-saving skills.
At the programme were the Director of fire service, Engineer Ismail Alimi, Special Adviser to the Governor on Fire Matters,Hon.Henry Oyebade alongside fire service personnel.
Scchool administrators,teachers, students, parents and community leaders participated actively in the various training sessions.
