Ilesha General Hospital Upgraded to UniIlesa Teaching Hospital

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has announced the official upgrade of Ilesa General Hospital to the UniIlesa Teaching Hospital, as part of his administration’s commitment to improving healthcare and promoting Ilesa as a hub for medical excellence.
The announcement was made during the coronation ceremony of the 44th Owa of Ijesaland, Oba Clement Adesuyi Haastrup, held in Ilesa.
Governor Adeleke reiterated his administration’s dedication to transforming Ijesaland into a modern city, noting that the dual carriageway from Ereja Square to Brewery Junction—spanning over 12 kilometers is nearing completion. He highlighted this project as key to opening Ilesa up for business and tourism.
Speaking on educational development, the Governor revealed that the University of Ilesha has received full approval and now offers over 50 accredited courses. He added that infrastructure development within the university is ongoing, with the goal of establishing a world-class institution.
Addressing mining issues in the region, the Governor said his administration is enforcing comprehensive reforms to combat illegal mining and environmental degradation. He also shared that Osun State is now an official shareholder in Thor Exploration, the company behind the Segilola Gold Project, ensuring the state benefits from its mineral wealth.
Congratulating the people of Ijesaland on their new monarch, Governor Adeleke expressed willingness to partner with the traditional ruler through public-private initiatives to further develop the region.
He emphasized that the administration’s development efforts are not limited to Ijesaland alone, but are also being replicated across other regions of the state, including Ifeland, Osogboland, Iwoland, Igbomina land, and Edeland.
