The commissioning ceremony took place at the Osun State Fire Service Headquarters in Abere.
Speaking at the event, Governor Adeleke reiterated his commitment to equitable resource distribution across the state and highlighted the importance of strengthening the fire service for the safety and well-being of citizens.
He noted that prior to his administration, the last set of fire trucks was procured over fourteen years aga, a situation he described as both alarming and unacceptable. He explained that since assuming office, his administration has procured a total of seven modern fire trucks and one water tanker, alongside essential firefighting equipment and protective gear for fire officers.
"Our administration is committed to safeguarding lives and property," the governor said. "These new fire trucks will significantly enhance the efficiency and responsiveness of our fire service, giving our people renewed confidence in emergency management."
Governor Adeleke also reaffirmed his goal of providing at least one fire truck to each of the nine federal constituencies in Osun State, in addition to one stationed at the headquarters. He disclosed that plans are underway to complete the procurement of the remaining trucks to ensure comprehensive coverage across the state.
Emphasizing the need for sustainability, he directed the Commissioner for Home Affairs and the leadership of the State Fire Service to implement a robust maintenance plan and accountability system to keep the vehicles in optimal condition.
Earlier in the event, Commissioner for Home Affairs, Rasheed Aderibigbe, expressed gratitude for the advancements made under Governor Adeleke’s leadership, describing the new fire trucks as a milestone in the state's emergency preparedness.
