2025 Easter Celebration: Gov. Adeleke urges Osun residents to continue praying for the success of his administration
By Sunday Okunade
The All Souls Anglican Church in Okefia, Osogbo, was filled with celebration and vibrant energy as worshippers gathered for a special Easter thanksgiving service. The church, adorned with colorful decorations, became a center of joy as attendees arrived in festive attire, marking the resurrection of Jesus Christ with songs, prayers, and praise.
From the opening moments, the service was charged with spiritual enthusiasm. Worshippers participated in heartfelt prayers, scripture readings, and hymns that echoed through the sanctuary. The choir led a powerful session of praise, lifting the congregation's spirits and setting a tone of gratitude and reflection.
A highlight of the event was the attendance of the Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke. His presence brought added significance to the celebration. Taking the stage during the thanksgiving segment, he delivered a stirring message centered on hope, faith, and communal unity.
Governor Adeleke called on residents of Osun to continue offering prayers for his administration, emphasizing that divine support and communal harmony were essential for continued progress. He also praised the peaceful nature of the state and encouraged everyone to preserve and promote it.
Reflecting on his time in office, Governor Adeleke expressed satisfaction with the progress achieved so far. He reaffirmed his commitment to the promises made during his campaign, using the metaphor of light prevailing over darkness to describe the transformation underway in the state.
The governor acknowledged the challenges faced since assuming office, including political opposition and the burden of abandoned projects. Despite these hurdles, he celebrated the completion of many key initiatives and credited divine grace for enabling him to lead effectively through it all.
He also drew from the Bible, quoting the book of Mark to reinforce the power of prayer and faith. Adeleke urged Christians to remain steadfast, assuring them that sincere prayers would be answered and that their trust in God should never waver.
In his speech, the governor highlighted ongoing development efforts in Osun, from infrastructure upgrades to improvements in healthcare and education. He stressed that inclusiveness remains a guiding principle of his administration, vowing that every initiated project would be seen through to completion.
The Bishop of the Osun Anglican Diocese, Right Reverend Olugbenga Babatunji, delivered the sermon with passion and conviction. He spoke on the true essence of Easter—love, unity, and selfless service—and urged both leaders and citizens to embrace these values. The bishop commended Governor Adeleke for his dedication and encouraged the congregation to continue praying for the state’s leadership and prosperity.
