Workers welfare will always be my priority--Governor Adeleke


......as NCSU awards him the Best Civil Service Loving Governor

The Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke has reiterated his commitment to prioritising welfare of workers of all categories in the State.

The Governor stated this in his office, State Secretariat Complex, Osogbo while receiving an award of 2024 Best Civil Service Loving Governor in Nigeria presented to him by National body of the Nigeria Civil Service Union.

Governor Adeleke appreciated workers for cooperating with his administration, saying he is able to deliver some of his electoral promises  within a short period of time through the grace of God.

The Governor who spoke through his  Deputy, Prince Kola Adewusi appealed to workers to continue supporting him, saying "to whom much is given, much is expected".

He eulogized the workforce in Osun state for supporting the present administration, stressing the need for them to educate and enlighten the general Public on the need to vote wisely when the time comes. 

The state helmsman equally commended the State Head of Service, Mr Ayanleye Aina for standing by him always noting that Mr Aina's love for workers is unprecedented as he will never seek his own personal gains, but workers benefits.

Speaking further, the Governor made it know that he has signed a contract agreement with the contractor to renovate the Osogbo City Stadium which according to him "when it is completed within the next one year, it will meet up with the international standard".

Presenting the award to the Governor earlier, the President, Nigeria Civil Service Union, (NCSU) who also doubles as the Vice-president, Nigeria Labour Congress, Southwest Zone, Comrade Oluwole Adeleye said the award is in recognition of his outstanding performance in the state and his positive attitude to workers in general.

Comrade Adeleye explained that workers are extremely delighted to have Sen. Adeleke as the Governor in the State due to his consistency and style of  governance which according to him has positively impacted the human capital, social -economic and infrastructural development of Osun State.

The Nigeria Civil Service Union President who led other labour leaders and members added that the Union will continue to sustain its pivotal role in advocacy for good governance and agitations for better welfare for members and workers as a whole.

He noted that the Union have been able to X-ray the activities of the public office holders and see their performance which according to him "the Governor have performed exceptionally well in terms of serving workers and retirees in the state".

He highlighted some of the good gesture of the Governor to workers which includes; prompt payment of salaries and cooperative deductions; payment of palliative to workers in order to cushion the negative effect of inflation on the economy; promotion, conversion and advancement to eligible workers; provision of favourable policies for workers.

Others are prompt payment of pensions and gratuity to retirees; gradual payment of pensions and gratuity for pensioners of various categories; enrolment of pensioners into Osun Health Insurance Scheme free of charge, ongoing recruitment of teachers to fill the existing vacancies, to mention but a few.

The President however appealed to the Governor to expedite action on the implementation of the new national minimum wage for workers in the State. 

In his opening remarks, the Chairman  of the Osun State chapter of Nigeria Civil Service Union, NCSU, Comrade Seyi Oyinlola said it is note worthy that the Governor deserves the award presented to him as the 2024 Best Civil 
Service Loving Governor in Nigeria.
 
While thanking him for putting  workers welfare first, Com. Oyinlola charged the Governor to continue his friendliness and positive approach to issues generally in the State.

Highlights of the event was the presentation of an award to the Governor in which he also reciprocated by presenting a gift to the labour leaders.

Present at the ceremony were; the Deputy Speaker, Osun State House of Assembly, RT. Hon. Akinyode Oyewusi;other members of the State House of Assembly, Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi; Labour Leaders and their members, among others.
