Osun 2026: Adeleke Emerges Accord Party Flag-Bearer

As preparations intensify ahead of the August 8, 2026 governorship election in Osun State, the Accord Party has conducted its primary election to select its standard-bearer for the forthcoming poll. During the exercise, 150 accredited delegates drawn from the 30 local government areas of the state participated in the voting process to choose the party’s candidate.
At the conclusion of the primary, held in Osogbo, the State Capital, the incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke emerged victorious with 145 votes. He was subsequently presented with the Certificate of Return by the National Chairman of the party, Barrister Maxwell Ngbudem.
Announcing the results, the Secretary of the Electoral Committee, Abdulazeez Abdulakeem, explained that out of the 150 votes cast, five were void while 145 were declared valid.
Governor Ademola Adeleke, in his acceptance speech after emerging as the Accord Party’s governorship candidate, expressed deep appreciation to party leaders, delegates, and supporters for entrusting him with the mandate to fly the party’s flag in the 2026 Osun gubernatorial election. He described his emergence as a renewed call to service and a reaffirmation of the collective commitment to the progress and development of the state.
Adeleke noted that the overwhelming support he received at the primary election was a clear demonstration of unity within the party and a strong vote of confidence in his leadership. He commended the transparent conduct of the electoral committee and applauded the delegates who participated in the process across the 30 local government areas of the state.
According to him, the Accord Party has shown its readiness to lead Osun State into another phase of growth, stability, and prosperity. He emphasized that the party’s decision to adopt him as its candidate reflected its determination to consolidate ongoing reforms and expand opportunities for residents of the state.
The governor pledged to continue prioritizing people-centered governance, strengthening institutions, and promoting policies that enhance economic empowerment, social welfare, and infrastructural development. He assured party members and citizens that his administration would intensify efforts across key sectors to ensure inclusive progress.
Adeleke urged party members to remain united and focused as the state prepares for the 2026 governorship election, saying victory is attainable through collective effort, discipline, and commitment. He called on all supporters to begin mobilizing at the grassroots, reaffirming that the Accord Party is positioned to secure widespread support in the months ahead.
The primary election was conducted and monitored by Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC officials among other party members.
